Well here we are…30 shows into the “Join the Tribe Tour” and we’re just getting started…..

The transition from Peter to Michael has been as smooth as we could expect. Peter has been amazing as he has helped us make this monumental transition. Michael has taken on the “mantel” of the lead singer of the Newsboys, and feels the gravity of it. He feels that he has been divinely placed here at this time….as do we. The years of friendship between Michael and the band seem to take on greater weight. We truely believe that this is a Divinely appointed time for us all.

From the initial rehearsals we realized that this was something special. We recognized that our two decade friendship was not just “by chance”. Looking forward we all see that the Newsboys will be a way more “efficient” and “effective” ministry. There are two side to what we do….the live touring, and the studio. Typically for one side to prosper the other has to suffer. This is now, not the case. I see it as a two edged sword. The two now, can work in tandem….

It’s my belief that we’ll get better songs, more often than before. Peter can immerse himself into what is his “forte”…writting #1 hits, while we can do what we believe we are called to….ministering the Gospel. I am so excited about our future. I truely believe that the best is yet to come from the Newsboys…..So, as we finish out this tour, we thank you all for all your love and support…..Duncan.

Hey Duncan, I want thank you for the updates, Pictures and for taking the time to connect and talk to us. I’ve been a fan of the newsboys since 2006 I was flipping through channels on the tv and i came across you all playing at Harvest and Peter was singing “It Is You” I thought Wow I didn’t know Christian music was this Awesome!and from then on Me my parents and brothers have really enjoyed the message you all share and your songs are so powerful and fun to listen to. You all have really Inspired me so much! Thank you for all you do! We will really miss seeing Peter but I respect his decision and understand why He wanted to get off the road and He really deserves it. It will take a little bit to get use to Michael’s voice singing newsboys songs but I’m giving you all my full support and I believe Michael will continue to do great! I look forward to Meeting you at the concert in summerville,SC on the 23rd and hearing you all play and sing to our Lord. thank you God Bless you all. Becky

Thanks for the update! and on your Easter break, too! I hope you and your family had a wonderful holiday together.
Glad to see the tour is going well. I can’t wait to hear Tait singing some of the NB songs! He was great in DC Talk, great on his own, and I’m sure he’ll be great in the Newsboys. (pass that on to him, please! :) )
Could you please elucidate on what Peter’s going to be doing? He’ll be writing songs, I know. Will he sing on any albums after the new one, or has that not been decided yet?
    Thanks again!

    Owan,

Yeah..Pete is staying home and really concentrating on what he loves and really does best…writting hit songs. He wrestled with this decision for some time, and he has a peace and confidence that this is right for him. He feels he has missed so much family time over the last 22 years. When I come home, I spend time with my family….he goes straight into either song writting mode..or a studio. He feels he needs this time for his immediate and extended family. Now Newsboys can move forward with the writting, and live shows in tandem. Neither side has to suffer for the other to prosper….So, Peter is very involved in the making of Newsboys records, while we continue to do what we believe we are called to. Hope this helps you…Blessings…Duncan.

Thanks for your interest in Newsboys. Peter has sung all lead vocals on our soon to be released record ” In the hands of God.” This will be his last record singing in this manner. He may guest vocal in the future, but Michael is our new lead singer. He will sing lead vocal on all future recordings….Thanks again…Duncan.

    Muzza,

How are you mate? Can’t wait to get back to Aussie. Really missing it recently. We have considered a bass player, but we feel we just don’t need one at this time. Jeff Frankenstein is doing a wonderful job, either sequencing it or playing it live on the keyboard. The sound is big and fat, and never complains…= ). Hope all is well with you my friend…..Duncan.

Thanks for clearing that up. Not quite the answer I had hoped for, but that’s okay. :) I’m looking forward to “In the Hands of God”s release!
    Have a good day, Duncan!
