by admin on May.14, 2009, under Blog
In The Hands of God No. 1 at Christian Retail; No. 28 on Billboard Top 200
Debut Marks Biggest Street Week in Inpop History
(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) May 14, 2009—newsboys debuted at No. 1 this week on the SoundScan Christian Albums chart with its fourteenth studio release, In The Hands of God. The album, whose title track also recently topped the Christian AC radio chart, additionally claimed No. 1 on the SoundScan Christian Adult Contemporary Albums chart, Soundscan Christian Digital chart, No. 1 on iTunes’ Christian/Gospel Top Albums chart and No. 28 on the Billboard Top 200. The occasion marks Inpop Records’ biggest ever street week in its 10 year history and the first No.1 record for newsboys since releasing Adoration in 2003.
Jeff Frankenstein of newsboys comments on the response, “After 20 plus years of being a band, all we can really say is ‘thank-you’! We are truly blessed with wonderfully loyal fans.”
Inpop President Dale Bray adds “This a great day for both newsboys and Inpop. Much credit and gratitude goes to our friends at EMI CMG, retail and radio for continued support over the past years. It’s a remarkable effort and highlights the strength of the newsboys brand, music and ministry.”
Produced by Max Hsu (Superchick, tobyMac) along with newsboys’ Peter Furler and Jeff Frankenstein, In The Hands of God boasts the classic rock sound that has made newsboys’ music legendary among Christian music fans for more than two decades. Featuring 10 hit songs, including “No Grave,” “The Way We Roll” and “Glorious,” the album additionally includes background vocals by Michael Tait of dc Talk, who recently stepped into the role of new frontman for newsboys. In The Hands of God, the last album on which Furler will sing, is an autobiographical record and a tribute to God’s divine providence over newsboys’ long-running career.

Great to hear you guys are well.
June 14th, 2009 on 1:18 pm
Well, the sheer panic method worked for me once…not as good as the “God Help Me Method”..I much prefer that one. Truth be told…I prefer the “smooth sailing Method” above all else. LOL I am also very glad that you are all safe. What an ordeal!
This serves as a good reminder to all about how important prayer is!
God Bless!

Wow Duncan!! Glad ur all alright as everyone else has said! All of us facebookers have been e-mailing fb about your account and I got a reply that said the following…
“If you would like us to look into this issue, please tell this person to view Facebook’s Help Center: http://www.facebook.com/help.php
They can take the appropriate steps from here to receive additional support”
You probably have already done this but I figured I should let you know just in case! Hopefully this all gets resolved, it is so weird that this happened!

June 15th, 2009 on 7:23 pm
Thanks Nichole…I have sent them a third frustrated email. We’ll see what happens. Their support has been horrendous. It’s the non response that’s really frustrating. Hopefully….fingers crossed….
June 15th, 2009 on 8:43 pm
Yes that is really frustrating that they wont respond to your emails! maybe we will have to email them and tell them that you have emailed them 3 times but they will not respond!and tell them that we want Duncan back-> “WWDB”!!!
June 16th, 2009 on 5:32 am
“WWDB” That has a ring to it! We should start a campaign with t-shirts and buttons and hats and those little rubber bracelets and stuff…I need more stuff!!! LOL

Duncan, How old were you when you gave your life to Christ? What is your testimony?
June 16th, 2009 on 8:46 am
Hey! We’ve started a new one on “Allow Duncan Back on Facebook”, it’s WWDBN! We Want Duncan Back Now! I think facebook may be getting a little frustrated with us, lol. I recieved an e-mail stating that they could not share anyone else’s account information with me. I replied to them stating that I don’t want the information, I just want them to contact him to get this figured out. Still no reply yet, but will keep you updated Duncan. God Bless!
June 16th, 2009 on 7:27 pm

Hey Duncan, I think you should e-mail them once per day, or whenever you get a chance to get on. That’s what I’ve been doing. I figure, with all the people on facebook, they prolly have to be getting tons of e-mails a day and I wouldn’t be suprised if some of them get forgotten about. So I figure the more e-mails I send the more my e-mails get to the top of the mail pile. I’m not trying to make excuses for them, just trying to think of what they might be going through in order to work around to what I want. Don’t know if that will help or not. Hope all is going well otherwise, no more fires right? God Bless!
June 17th, 2009 on 12:53 am
Hey Duncan! Just wanted to say I’m really enjoying the new cd! Newsboys have been my favorite band for over 10 years and your music never ceases to amaze me! My favorite off the new album is Lead Me To The Cross. I know it’s a cover song but it’s just so beautiful. Can’t wait to see you at Sonshine Fest!!!

Hey Courtney….thanks for all your help. I really appreciate you and the miriad of fans that have showed their support at this time. I think I might just open a fan page. Hopefully I wont run into whatever I did this time. I’ll let everyone know when and if I do. It’s a real shame that I have to start over…but it’s ok. I miss all of my peeps and want to get back as soon as….Love to all….Duncan.

I’m with Aziza, Happy Father’s Day! Hope you have had an awesome day!!
June 21st, 2009 on 8:32 pm
Happy Father’s Day Duncan. I did a search for your name on Facebook. There is a Duncan Phillips in Nashville, TN without any friends. Did Facebook finally give you your account back, but now you have to set everything up again? Or is it too good to be true?
June 22nd, 2009 on 4:25 am
Hi Duncan,
You guys put on a great show this weekend at the Big Ticket Festival in Gaylord, MI! Hope you had a great dad’s day.
June 22nd, 2009 on 7:11 am
Hi, Duncan! I just felt like saying ‘hi’ again. I’m really enjoying the new cd…Can’t wait to hear “Glorious” in concert sometime. I do wonder, tho, what Mike sounds like singing it. I guess I’ll have to wait and see, eh?

I was flipping through your Flickr photos. I really like some of them, like the circle of flipflops, or the place where you’re ‘moving’ to.
Just out of curiosity, do you wear anything except black? Or did you just get in the habit?
Anyway, thanks for sharing the photos…hope you can get back on FB soon…happy Father’s Day…and have a good day!

Thanks Kiwifruit…i usually don’t wear too much black on the beach, but have been known to. I usually do on the road, so you can’t see the dirt… = ) Black is classic and timeless. Always looks good…in my opinion of course. Still haven’t heard anything from FB. Really disappointed with their lack of customer service. I know I’m just one person, but a month and no reply, not even a real indication of why I was disabled….not good. The summer festivals are really going well. Mike and the rest of us are really enjoying it. The fans have been incredibly responsive and supportive….so awesome. We really do have the best fans in the world! Fathers Day was spent at Busch Gardens VA, but I made up for it the following day. I have the best family. I’m working on another FB plan. Will let you know as soon as I know. Love to all…..Duncan.
June 23rd, 2009 on 11:46 am
great to hear Duncan:)
June 23rd, 2009 on 1:29 pm
I like the black, too, it’s just that the only time I’ve seen you NOT in black (that I can think of) is in LLD and TMTYL.
have a good day!

Duncan……you guys just added a show in Fort Lauderdale for Haiti relief (I will be helping out with promotions with Paradigm). I am helping out with some of the promotions. Long story short, I brought my young nephew to the Go Tour in Miami and by the grace of God, we somehow we able to go backstage and meet with you’all. That night, my nephew bought The Go Tour drum sticks. He was thrilled to meet you. He started taking up the drums and takes lessions each week (he isn’t to bad). I would love for him to meet you again, it would be a HUGE encouragement. He is not totally committed to Christ. I believe he gave his heart to the Lord at a younger age, but is at the teenage years and sorta floating around without 100% commitment. He plays to your music for practice.
I will pray for your response….I know you are busy on the Winter Jam Tour. I would love to take you to lunch during the day of the show or even take you to an airboat ride in the Florida everglades (not far from venue) - probably something you have never done before.
